'The church, situated in the town, was erected in 1796, aided by a private loan and voluntary subscriptions to the amount of £1000; it is now in a dilapidated state, and it is in contemplation to take it down and rebuild it, for which purpose the Ecclesiastical Commissioners have granted £1058.'(Lewis). Date of church given as 1793 in Clergy of Dublin and Glendalough and Costegalde & Walker.

Proposed chancel not carried out. 38 plans with alternatives exhibited by him to building committee. (Some 'minaret terminals and crockets' from demolished parish church in Arklow presented to Rathdrum church in 1901.) Dedicated, May? 1900.
