Name: CLEMENTS, NATHANIEL
Building: CO. KILDARE, KILLADOON
Date: 1776a
Nature: New house, built by Robert Clements, son of Nathaniel Clements.  Visited by Arthur Young, 25 Jun 1776: 'to Mr Clements' at Killadoon, who has lately built an excellent house…'   NC tentatively suggested as its architect, but according to Bence-Jones, 'apart from having the "pattern-book" tripartite doorway with a fanlight, a baseless pediment and engaged columns, which he [Nathaniel Clements] seems to have favoured, it lacks the characteristics of the houses known to be by him or convincingly attributed to him' (Bence-Jones).  Attribution also questioned by Malcomson.
