Nature: Described as 'now erecting on a very extensive Plan, by Mr John Lynn, the builder of Sligo Gaol'.  See also letter from Rev. J.R. Moore, 10 Nov 1840: 'I cannot refer you to any person who has experience in the quarrying business, except to Mr. Lynn the architect of the County Prison which has been built at a cost of £73,000 from the quarries of Newcastle.'  JL was probably the supervising architect, see Dunleath, Rankin & Rown.
