Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Builder, of Dublin, active from 1836 or earlier until 1863 or later. In addition to the trade of builder, the directories describe him as a postmaster (1839) and, from 1847 onwards, as a poor law guardian. John Askins was contractor for new rent offices for the Pembroke Estates in Wilton Place, Dublin, erected to designs by WILLIAM HAGUE [2]  WILLIAM HAGUE [2] in 1866.(1)  He died 'in or about February 1870' at the age of 82.(2)
