Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Railway contractor, of Dublin. Robert Shaw Worthington, son of Robert Shaw Worthington, barrister, of Salmon Pool Lodge, Islandbridge, Dublin, and his wife Elizabeth Labatt, was born in Dublin in 1843.  Details of his early experience are not known, but he had set up in business as a contractor in Dublin by 1874, later specializing in railway work in Ireland.  According to Casey, he was also the designer of Guinness's Robert Street malt store in Dublin, built between 1885 and 1886.(1)

Worthington was married three times and had at least eight children.   He died in 1922 at the age of eighty.
