Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer. Albert Ashe, who was born in Co. Down on 16 December 1873, was elected town surveyor for Tullamore, Co. Offaly, in 1900.(1) In 1914 he was appointed architect in connection with the labourers' housing scheme by Tullamore Rural District Council.(2) During the First World War, in 1917, he received a commission in the Royal Engineers,(3) and his post as town surveyor passed to WILLIAM HOLOHAN WILLIAM HOLOHAN . Ashe married Maude Louisa, one of the two daughters of WILLIAM EDWARD MARTIN WILLIAM EDWARD MARTIN , who died at his house in 1915.(4)  By the time of the 1911 census, he had two sons.
