Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

House decorator and stained glass warehouseman of Castle Street, Belfast, active in the 1840s and 1850s. In 1848 Coates supplied stained glass for the dome in the hall of Mount Stewart, Co. Down; this was later removed. Some of his best work is in the chancel of St John's Church of Ireland church , Upper Kilwarlin, Co, Down.(1)
