'Mr Whittington' was an entrant in the Belfast Board of Guardians school competition of 1872, and was a member of the deputation of unsuccessful entrants who on 19 November 1872 made representations to the Board about the selection of YOUNG & YOUNG & amp; MACKENZIE' MACKENZIE' s design.(1) He can probably be identified as John S. Whittington, of Manchester, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), II, 982.(2)
