Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Edinburgh, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), II, 1082, and Dictionary of Scottish Architects (www.scottisharchitects.org.uk). In 1914 Wynnes won the competition for the Belfast City Art Gallery, Stranmillis Road, Belfast.(1) Building was delayed by the outbreak of the First World War: the first stage of the building was completed in 1929,(2) the second in 1936.(3) In 1925 Wynnes acted as assessor in the competition for the branch public library in the Shankill Road, Belfast.(4)
