WILSON, THOMAS

Assistant county surveyor for Co. Monagahan. Thomas Wilson, according to his 1911 census return, was born in Co. Cavan in 1855 or 1856. He had been appointed an assistant county surveyor for Co. Monaghan by 1900 and retired in 1925. He also farmed at Newgrove, Bellanode, Co. Monaghan, describing himself on the 1911 census return as 'Farmer and Asst. Co. Surveyor' . After his retirement he moved to Bangor, Co. Down, where he died on 7 August 1927. He had married his Monaghan-born wife, Catherine Lucy, in 1888 or 1889 and had six children.
