Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

County surveyor of Cos. Laois, 1909-1914, and Louth, 1914-1946. Thomas Walsh was born near Gortnahoe, Co. Tipperary, on 7 March 1875 and was educated at Rockwell College and Queen's College, Galway, obtaining the BE degree in 1905. After graduating he served as an assistant county surveyor in Cos. Tyrone, Monaghan and Roscommon, and also worked for the Congested Districts Board. In July 1909 he was appointed county surveyor of Co. Laois following the death of PATRICK RICHARD A. MORRIS. PATRICK RICHARD A. MORRIS. (1) In April 1914 he was transferred to the surveyorship of Co. Louth, vacant since the death of PATRICK JOHN LYNAM PATRICK JOHN LYNAM , his place in Laois being taken by JOHN RORKE JOHN RORKE . He remained in the Co. Louth post until 1946, when he was replaced by GERARD P. FOGARTY. H GERARD P. FOGARTY. H e died at home in Dundalk on 25 March 1955. He was unmarried.
