Architect, of Naples, approached by the first Earl of Charlemont in 1755 about designs for a temple in the grounds of his house at Marino, Co. Dublin. According to Harris, Vanvitelli's 'exorbitant demands' - he was by then at the peak of his career and working for Charles III in Naples - put an end to any idea of employing him.(1)
