Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Bricklayer and builder, of Leeson Street, Dublin, active in the 1790s and the first five years of the nineteenth century. It was as one of the 'Principal Architects and Builders of this City' that he signed a certificate in support of BRYAN BOLGER' BRYAN BOLGER' s application to become measurer of the Royal Canal works in July 1794.(1) In 1801 he also signed a memorial from various tradesmen employed by the Board of Works, recommending that Bolger should succeed JOHN BERRELL  JOHN BERRELL as measurer to the Board.(2) Swords died in 1805, when his will was proved in the Prerogative Court.(3)
