English architect, for whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (4th edn., 2008), 1004-5. Richard Suter was a pupil of Daniel Asher Alexander, Surveyor to the Fishmongers' Company. He was acting as Surveyor on Alexander's behalf from 1817 and succeeded him in 1822. During the remainder of the 1820s he designed a number of buildings on the Fishmongers' estate in Co. Derry, including the Presbyterian churches at Banagher and Ballykelly. He ceased to contribute designs from 1830 onwards.
