Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Porsmouth, for whom see F. O'Dwyer, 'Building empires: architecture, politics and the Board of Works 1760-1860', Irish Architectural and Decorative Studies 5 (2002), 150. At the request of his father JACOB OWEN JACOB OWEN , Thomas Ellis Owen drew up plans for St Patrick's College, Maynooth, after the resignation of AUGUSTUS WELBY NORTHMORE PUGIN  AUGUSTUS WELBY NORTHMORE PUGIN from the project in January 1846. The following year Pugin was persuaded to resume the role of architect, however, and Owen's plans were not proceeded with.

Nature: TEH draws up plans for same following resignation of A.W.N. Pugin, Jan 1846. Pugin reinstated as architect, Jul 1847, so Owen's plans were not executed.
