Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and 'CE' of Dublin. Briggs was a student in the mechanical and architectural technical drawing class which JOHN SWAN SLOANE  JOHN SWAN SLOANE taught in the Mechanics' Institute in Dublin in the mid-1850s.(1) He was working from the premises of the family house-decorating business at 24 North Great George's Street in 1863 but by 1874 had moved to 1 Charleston Road, Rathmines. He is probably the 'Mr Briggs, architect', who designed alterations to No. 30 Westmoreland Street in 1879.(2) He died in May, 1882.(3)
