Surveyor,of Dublin. William Richards, a pupil of BERNARD SCAL BERNARD SCAL É(1) made a survey plan of Carton, Co. Kildare, in 1858.(2)   During the mid-1860s he was in partnership with Scalé. 'Scalé & Richards, land surveyors' are listed in Wilson's Dublin Directory for the years 1763 to 1767 with an address in George's Lane, but in the 1768 edition Scalé appears on his own at a different address. Scalé and Richards published a chart of Wexford harbour and town in 1764, based on a survey by Joseph Allen.(3) The following year they surveyed and published a chart of the coast from Wicklow Head to Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, and were granted fifty guineas by Dublin corporation 'to enable them to complete and carry into execution the said work'.(4) William Richards also made a plan for Dublin harbour.(5)
