Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer. William Bergin was born in Cork on 25 March 1877, a younger son of Osborn Roberts Bergin, lecturer in Celtic studies at Queen's College, Cork, and his wife Sarah Reddin.(1) The distinguished Irish scholar Osborn Joseph Bergin was his elder brother. A Congregationalist, William Bergin was educted at Cork Grammar School and Queen's College, Cork, where he received the BA degree in 1898 and the BE degree in 1899.(2) He held the post of city engineer in Tientsin, China. He died in England in 1956. He was a cousin of STEPHEN WILLIAM FARRINGTON. STEPHEN WILLIAM FARRINGTON.
