Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer and surveyor, of Dublin. Patrick O'Sullivan studied at the Schools of Science and Art and the City of Dublin Technical Schools and, in the early part of his career, worked as a general assistant and surveyor for several well-known Dublin architects. He spent seven years - and later a further year - in the office of GEORGE COPPINGER ASHLIN GEORGE COPPINGER ASHLIN , and also worked for WALTER GLYNN DOOLIN WALTER GLYNN DOOLIN , WILLIAM HENRY BYRNE  WILLIAM HENRY BYRNE and THOMAS NEWENHAM DEANE THOMAS NEWENHAM DEANE . In 1897 he joined the staff of the Dublin United Tramways Company as an assistant engineer under SAMUEL WILLIAM NUGENT SAMUEL WILLIAM NUGENT , assuming full responsibility when Nugent was ill between June 1899 and February 1900 and succeeding him as chief engineer in February 1902. He remained in the post until 1925(1) or later. He died in 1957 or 1958.(2) His pupils and assistants included JOSEPH ALEXANDER ROCKETT.  JOSEPH ALEXANDER ROCKETT.
