Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Land surveyor. Humphrey Evatt, the eldest son of Samuel Robert Bayley Evatt of Mount Louise, Co. Monaghan, was born on 9 July 1839. After obtaining the BA degree, he probably became an assistant of JOHN NEVILLE JOHN NEVILLE , County Surveyor for Co. Louth, as it was on Neville's recommendation that he was appointed Surveyor of Lands for Sierra Leone in 1863 at a salary of £500 per annum.(1) He did not hold the job for more than two years before he died, unmarried, on 19 September 1865.
