Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect and draughtsman, of Dublin. James Patrick McGrath, who, according to the 1911 census, was born in Dublin in 1870 or 187, became a member of the AAI in 1896, exhibited a design for a church at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1897 (no. 493). In 1919 or 1920 he became a draughtsman in the Valuation Office and by 1933 had risen to the position of superintendent draughtsman. He died in 1935 or 1936.(1)  At the time of the 1911 census he was unmarried and living with his brother-in-law Arthur Conway at 100 Leinster Road, Rathmines.
