Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Cabinet maker, of Stafford Street, Dublin. Patrick Beakey first appears in Wilson's Dublin Directory for 1825, with an address at 5 Stafford Street.   The directories reflect the gradual expansion of his business and by 1853 style him 'cabinet maker to Her Majesty's Board of Works'.   He died in Stafford Street on 24 December 1867;  probate of his will was granted to his widow, Grace.(1)  His workshop, which continued in business until 1907 or later, executed the stalls & bishop's throne at Cobh cathedral,(2) and the organ case, choir stalls, cardinal's & throne seats to Ashlin & Coleman's design at Armagh RC cathedral.(3)
