Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, with the Board of Public Works. Michael Mellon was a brother of THOMAS JOHN MELLON  THOMAS JOHN MELLON and of Reuben E. Mellon, a building contractor in Dublin.(1) He was a Board of Works district clerk of works (later known as assistant surveyor of buildings) for Co. Dublin from 1863 or earlier until 1893.(2) By 1896 he was living at 48 Brighton Square West, Rathgar, a house which Thomas John Mellon had formerly occupied.(3) He may have died by 1899, when only a Mrs Mellon is found at this address. He may also have been related to J.H. MELLON. MELLON.
