Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin. On his tombstone at Dalkey, which records his death in March 1824 at the age of sixty-five, Joseph Martin is described as 'Late of the Architects Department, Linen Hall, Dublin'.(1) The same tombstone records the death of Martin's wife, Margaret, about twenty years later.

(1) IB 100, 9 Aug 1958, 574; when the writer of the piece saw the memorial in 1958 it was not in the churchyard but 'affixed by a frame mid-way up the exterior wall of a modern public convenience (or passage way to it) erected by the side of the town hall'.
