Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Florentine decorative and scene painter, active between 1784 and 1834, for whom see W.G. Strickland, A Dictionary of Irish Artists (1913), II, 102, and Edward Croft-Murray, Decorative Painting in England (1962;1970), 242-3. In 1809 Marinari came to Dublin from London, where he had been working at the King's Theatre, Haymarket, and was engaged by F.E. Jones, manager of the Crow Street theatre, to carry out the decoration of the theatre. Marinari painted the ceiling, proscenium, drop-scene and the panels of the boxes with mythological and allegorical scenes.(1) He also decorated walls at Clonliffe House for Jones. He probably left Dublin as soon as he had completed these commissions.
