Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Assistant county surveyor for Co. Mayo, from 1900 or earlier until 1922 or later. George Lawrence Joynt, son of William and Margaret Joynt, of Ballina, Co. Mayo, was born in Ballina in 1862 or 1863.  He was in practice as a civil engineer from circa 1888. In 1900 he was appointed town surveyor of Ballina, Co. Mayo, remaining in the post until 1937, when he was succeeded by P.A. Calleary.  The 1911 census return states that hemarried his wife, Annie Baillie McKee, in 1886 and was the father of three children.

ICEI: elected associate member, 4 November 1903;(1) raised to member, 1926; no longer on list of members by 1942.(2)
