Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of London, for whom see Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001), I, 118. William Barnes, a pupil and sometime partner of GEORGE SMITH GEORGE SMITH , was architect, with Smith, to the Mercers' Company, and thus responsible for various buildings on the Mercers' estates in Co. Derry, mostly in Kilrea, from the 1830s until the 1860s. He also designed the National Bank headquarters in Dublin (1842-1845).
