Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Town surveyor of Omagh, Co. Tyrone. Thomas T. Hamilton, who had an engineering degree, was appointed to the Omagh surveyorship in 1910(1) and remained in it until 1942 or later.(2) In 1920 the council proposed that he should be given charge of the town's new housing scheme, but, because of a requirement by the Local Government Board that such schemes should be placed in the hands of fully qualified architects who were members of the RIAI or RIBA, JAMES PATRICK MCGRATH  JAMES PATRICK MCGRATH was appointed architect to the scheme instead.(3)
