Carpenter and builder, of Dublin. Benjamin Eaton, who appears to have been the son of BENJAMIN EATON [1] BENJAMIN EATON [1] was admitted to the Dublin Society's School of Drawing in Architecture on 1 June 1797. It seems that in about 1800 he became his widowed mother's partner in running his late father's building and carpentry business; after his mother's death in 1801 or 1802, he carried on the business alone. He is presumably the person of the same name who, as the eldest surviving son of a freeman and a member of the Carpenters' Guild, was admitted a freeman of the City of Dublin at Christmas 1802 and who from 1808 until 1822 represented the Guild on the Common Council of Dublin. Like his father he was regularly employed on work for the Corporation. According to his fellow tradesmen, writing in 1834, he employed twenty men at one stage and still generally employed about four. Either he or BENHAMIN EATON [4] BENHAMIN EATON [4] was recorded as a patron of the Aged and Infirm Carpenters' Asylum in 1835 .
Eaton was a subscriber to William Stitt's The Practical Architect's Ready Assistant; or Builder's Complete Companion (Dublin, 1819). He may be the Benjamin Eaton who married Hannah Andrews in Crumlin in 1805.
