Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Engineer with the Public Works Department in India. William Dorman was born on 5 February 1876, the eldest son of JOHN WILLIAM DORMAN JOHN WILLIAM DORMAN . He graduated BA and BE from Queen's College, Cork, and then served as an engineer in India from 1900 until 1931, first in the Roads and Building Division and later as chief engineer in the Punjab. Dorman took an active interest in the Boy Scout movement and was commissioner of the association for Co. Cork. He died on 25 April 1962, leaving one son, his widow Elizabeth, née Craig, having predeceased him by a few months.
