Architect, of London, for whom see Howard Colvin, A Biographical dictionary of British architects 1600-1840 (4th edn., 2008), 308.  Peter De La Roche, a native of Geneva and self-taught architect, entered the Dublin Royal Exchange competition in 1869.(1) In the same year he published An Essay on the Orders of Architecture, in which are contained some considerable alterations in their proportions etc. and the introduction of a new great order, called the Britannic Order.(2)
