Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Carpenter and builder of 11 Montague Street, Dublin, listed as such in Wilson's Dublin Directory for the years 1795 to1816 and as a builder and measurer in the editions for 1817 to 1831. He may be the 'Matthew Curran, architect' who was paid to finish the Sessions House at Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, in 1808.(1)    According to the account of his career given by his fellow tradesmen in 1834, he had done well in business initially but 'became reduced shortly after 1800 - struggled until 1830 & died poor'.(2)
