Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Civil engineer, of Ennis, Co. Clare. Edward Carroll, the eldest son of WILLIAM CARROLL[1]  WILLIAM CARROLL[1] and a brother of WILLIAM REGINALD CARROLL WILLIAM REGINALD CARROLL , was born circa 1847. He entered the family building firm and was placed in charge of its contract with Government to construct quays and a dockyard at Haulbowline, Co. Cork. He died in 1883, four years before the work was completed, at the age of thirty-six. His obituary in the Clare Journal of 18 Jun 1883 describes him as being of 'a gentle and unassuming manner and genial disposition'.
