County surveyor for the Western Division of Co. Limerick, 1877 -1884.(1) John Cox worked as an inspector of drainage for the Board of Works in Co. Limerick from 1846 to 1859. In 1877 he was placed second in the county surveyorship qualifying examination and was appointed to the western division of Co. Limerick on 20 December 1877. He was forced to resign because of failing health on 5 March 1884.
