Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Sculptor, of Dublin. Joseph Corbett was a son of the engraver Daniel Corbett. In 1792, when under 14, he was awarded a premium of £30 by the Royal Dublin Society for a piece of sculpture in marble. He is said to have been a pupil of EDWARD SMYTH  EDWARD SMYTH and to have assisted him in carving the statues on the Custom House. He is also said to have died as the result of a cold caught while giving some finishing touches to the statues after they had been placed in position.
