AHERN, TIMOTHY JOSEPH
- Born: 1907 Died: 1952
Architect, of Dublin. Timothy Ahern, son of Michael Ahern, of Victoria Cross, Cork, was born in Cork in on 6 August 1907 and was educated at the North Monastery Technical Schools, the Christian Schools, Cork, and, from 1927 to 1930, at the Crawford Municipal Technical Institute. In 1929 he entered the office of B. O'FLYNN & amp; SON. He left Cork for Dublin in 1935 and, from 18 July 1935 until 3 April 1936, was an architectural assistant in the office of JONES & amp; KELLY. (1) In May 1936 he was appointed a draughtsman in the housing department of Dublin Corporation.(2) He remained in the housing department until about 1949, when he set up in private practice in Dame Street.(3) He died unexpectedly on 9 September 1952. At the time of his death, he was engaged on the design of a large scheme of flats for Dublin Corporation.
