Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

English architect and architectural writer, for whom see DNB, Directory of British Architects 1834-1914 (RIBA 2001),I, 312, and his obituary in Min.Proc.Inst.CE 48 (1976-77), 269-70. Bury was a pupil of Augustus Charles Pugin. A folio of his plans and drawings for the proposed restoration of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, dated 1847, is in the Royal Irish Academy.(1)

(1) Royal Irish Academy, RR Recess case 2 M2. According to reference in the Buildings of Ireland files (by Rory O'Donnell) these are Carpenter's designs drawn by Bury, but why should Bury, who, according to the DNB, had 'started business' in 1830, draw up Carpenter's proposals?
