Fox and his partner John Henderson were contractors for the building of the bridge over the River Shannon at Athlone to designs by GEORGE WILLOUGHBY HEMANS  GEORGE WILLOUGHBY HEMANS in 1850. At about the same time the partnership was also involved in the construction of the Cork & Bandon Railway.
