Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

Architect, of Dublin. Frederick William Stokes's addresses indicate that he was a pupil or assistant in the office of JOHN MCCURDY  JOHN MCCURDY when he was elected a student of the RIAI in 1867(1) and that he was still with McCurdy in 1871.(2) As yet nothing is known of his career after 1873 when he was elected a member of the AAI.

AAI: present at inaugural meeting, 13 October 1872;(3) proposed as member, 27 February 1873, and elected 1 April 1873.(4)
RIAI: elected student, 19 December 1867, having been proposed by John McCurdy and secondeded by THOMAS DREW  THOMAS DREW and FREDERICK VILLERS CLARENDON FREDERICK VILLERS CLARENDON ;(5) still a student in 1871(6) but not on list of members for 1878.(7)
