Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

'J. Ryan, Archt.' signed an undated design for a mortuary chapel in memory of Thomas Meagher which is in the collection of drawings from Ballinkeele, Co. Wexford, on deposit in the Irish Architectural Archive.(1) The design is very similar to that of the mortuary chapel which was erected beside Ballymurn RC church, Co. Wexford;(2) this is presumably the 'new mortuary chapel, to the memory of the late Mr Meagher' which is noted in the Dublin Builder in April 1861 as being built by Hardman & Co. to designs by PUGIN & ASHLIN  PUGIN & ASHLIN at 'Ballykeale, near Wexford'.(3)
