Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

American divine and amateur architect, author of An Essay on Gothic Architecture (1832), for whom see Dictionary of American Biography. John Henry Hopkins was born on 1 January 1792 in Dublin, where his father, Thomas Hopkins, was a merchant. His family emigrated to the United States in 1800, when he was about eight years old.   He died at Rock Point, Vermont, on 1 January 1868.
