GILES, FRANCIS #
- Born: 1787 Died: 1847
English surveyor and civil engineer, for biography of whom see DNB and Min.ProcInst.CE 7 (1848), 9. In Ireland Giles was carried out surveys of the River Liffey at Dublin Harbour and of Kingstown Harbour. Together with GEORGE HALPIN[1] he directed the construction of the Great North Wall at Dublin and he was also responsible for the design of Courtown Harbour.
