FLANAGIN, HUGH WILLIAM

Architect and civil engineer, of Cork. Hugh Flanagin, son of Hugh Flanagin, undertaker, of Church Street, Cork, and his wife Isabella Sara (neé Haynes), was born in Cork City on 18 October 1879.(1) After taking an engineering degree,(2) he became a pupil of ARTHUR HILL in Cork in 1903.(3) He was appointed lecturer in architecture at the Crawford Municipal School of Art in 1915.(4) In 1919 he went into partnership with W.H. HILL & SON, the partnership being known as HILL SON & amp; FLANAGIN. (5) By 1926 he had moved to England.

RIBA: passed preliminary examination to qualify as a probationer, November 1903.(8)
