Dictionary of Irish Architects 1720 - 1940

James Roberts, who describes himself as 'one of the Engineers on the Grand Trigonometrical survey of Ireland', wrote to the Grand Lodge of Freemasons in Dublin from Flint Hill, Rappahannock, Virginia, USA, in April 1844, applying for a replacement certificate. According to his letter, he had been initiated in Lodge 853, Enniskillen, in 1829, on the same night as a cabinetmaker named James Goodwin.(1)
